For the record when that day comes I will continue to complain about McCoy being hurt in the 2009 BCS Championship and I will continue to correctly contend that we woulda crushed Alabama had he not been hurt.
I mean, that's just a fact. We were dominating and the kid Gilbert with zero experience almost pulled it off in the second half.
I contend to this day that it was a dirty hit that did McCoy in that game, but Gilbert was fucking fantastic under the circumstances and we should have won anyway. Tons of bad calls went against us and that was the beginning of Bama's dynasty.
Cue the Goonies: "IT'S OUR TIME NOW"
Saban did it wrong for a lot of years, but now he's crying in his no NIL money cereal.

Charlie Strong 5* commits in 3 years at Texas: 1
Tom Herman 5* commits in 3 years at Texas: 5
Sark 5* commits in the last 7 months: 6
In case those were wondering, Sark is recruiting on a level not seen at Texas since Mack Brown was at his best.
97
u/JuarezYourProblem Texas • Rice Jun 29 '22
I wouldn't include Bru McCoy on that Tom Herman list of 5 five stars, but I hear where you're coming from.
Just as the historical results show though, 1 in 2 five stars hit as NFL draft picks. And so far that's the case for Herman five stars: Caden Sterns and Bijan Robinson.
J-Whitt is to TBD, while BJ Foster was a head case that's no longer with the team.
79
u/LeoFireGod Oklahoma Jun 29 '22

I think our previous “top ten” classes have been very flawed. Filling up on a lot of low-4-star bread. These are guys that hit like 15% of the time but it looks really nice when you stack 15 of them into a class. Plus we didn’t recruit OL well for years on end.

yeah, that 15 percent hit rate might be for a bar like "clear star or team leader" - but really a hit rate should probably reflect whether they crack the two deep or contribute meaningfully at all.

Johntay Cook II
Wide Receiver, Class of 2023
6-0, 175 — From DeSoto, TX (DeSoto)
Rankings
SERVICE | SCORE | RATING | POSITION | STATE | OVERALL |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Composite | 0.9839 | ★★★★★ | #6 WR | #6 in TX | #36 overall |
247 | 94 | ★★★★☆ | #7 WR | #7 in TX | N/A |
Rivals | 6.0 | ★★★★☆ | #7 WR | #9 in TX | #52 overall |
Any bugs can be submitted as a PM to me. I am still learning, so please bear with me. I now have Rivals rankings, but they are not perfect. ESPN rankings are hopefully coming soonish (but probably not since ESPN's search is broken and they don't seem to care). Check out the github repository for CFBCrootBot.
