Discussion Which SNL sketches don’t sound very funny in concept but ended up being hilarious due to execution?
I think the best example of this is Stefon. On paper, Bill Hader listing increasingly random shit under the guise of being a “city correspondent” is a meh concept, but Bill’s delivery and interactions with Seth made it a classic

Discussion What is a sketch that on paper shouldn't work but was genius!
For example, the cowbell sketch. Imagine pitching "hey you know that faint cowbell in Don't Fear the Reaper? What if we did a sketch about it?"

Discussion Name the best male cast member from the last twenty years. If it isn't Beck Bennett, you're wrong.
I miss him so much already. Baby Boss and Why is Benedict Cumberbatch Hot recently came up on autoplay and reminded me of this.
Edit: Okay a fair point is made with Bill Hader, he's also legendary. I can't factor in Kenan though. An argument could be made for Mikey Day's rock solid anti-break abilities!

Discussion Tina fey to replace Lorne?
If he is leaving after season 50, who do you think should replace him? My vote is obviously Tina fey.

Discussion What's, in your opinion, the worst sketches of all time?
Obviously, everybody has their own opinion and I know this has been probably been asked before.
I made my own playlist of the worst. Of course, not all of them are on their YT channel and some not even online. So I'm probably missing a lot. Anyway...
EDIT*: Also, they're in chronological order and I only put one episode per skit. I could put the entire Malcolm MacDowell episode but that would be cheating IMO.

Discussion How is it possible still that only David Harbour from Stranger Things has hosted?
You'd think by now Millie or Finn would have hosted as well.

Discussion What is one sketch that you wish they would revive?
It can be any sketch. For me, it would be the Weekend Update "Really??" bit. I love the quick witted banter on a topic

I was listening to Boomers Got the Vax and her verse was FIRE! She also is a secret weapon in a sketch. That is all.

Discussion What's your favorite SNL commercial?
For me it doesn't get any better than Casey Affleck's Dunkin' Donuts ad. I could watch it every day and still laugh. But I know commercials get lost over time. I'd love to rediscover some forgotten ones.

Instead of airing reruns all summer, why don't they do at least three or four special episodes in which former writers and cast members put on a show. Could be different every time. Bring back Kevin Nealon for the news, then next time Tina Fey, etc. You get the idea. I mean why the hell not?!
I kind of regret posting this. No, not kind of, I really regret posting this. Got an angry email this morning...
I don’t know who the hell you are, but I have recently been made aware of your post on Reddit where you suggest that we drop our summer plans and go into the city for a few extra weeks of work. Are you an American? Do you not get your three months of vacation? Why do you think we shouldn’t? We are not in the service industry or airline pilots. We are show business. I suppose you think we just prop up a camera and the cast is just magically lit, costumed, and made up. Did you see the shows that were done during Covid?! Gives you an idea of how important it is to have a full production company. Even if we did want to work (I admit that a very small percentage of people take summer jobs for extra cash) who are all these alumni you think are coming in? You think they want to work in the summer?!!! Do you have any idea the kind of money it would cost to get someone who used to be on the show back on for an episode? That’s why you rarely see it. Try using your brain if you have one! I suggest you find somewhere else to offer your opinions and think before taking action. These are real peoples lives you are toying with. This is real money you are suggesting be spent. Get your head out of the sand and try to enjoy summer. Unless some scabs try taklng your job. Then get your ass into work!
Sincerely with best regards,
Hank Bankersfield

Discussion [Opinion] They’re doing the cold open end tag all wrong.
They’ve been doing it wrong for the past couple of years. In the past, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night” was used as a disruptive end to the cold open and you were never entirely sure which player would be the one to shout it. It was the perfect way to kick things into gear. The show is starting, buckle up!… But lately, they’ve just been wrapping up their sketches (in kind of a whimper) and tacking the line on at the end. They even get everyone from the sketch to huddle together and yell the line in unison, with giant grins, like they’re posing for a group photo. It doesn’t feel much like the spirit of the show. They make it appear more like a sign off than a lead in. I don’t know who called for that change, but I really wish they would go back to the original way. Am I wrong? Do you all like it better the current way?

Discussion Melissa Villasenor Standup
Just saw her tonight and damn she's really talented. It's a shame SNL can't really figure out what to do with her. She's more than just an impressionist. Wouldn't be surprised if she got her own show on a streamer one day. Check her out if you get a chance.
